Dr Val Corbett

BCL, LLM, PhD

Val Corbett graduated with BCL and LLM degrees from the National University of Ireland, Cork in 1997 and 1998 respectively. He completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2008. In 2017, Val was awarded his PhD from Trinity College Dublin.Val was formerly the Head of the Law School at Independent College Dublin (2007- 2016) and prior to that was Head of the Law School at Griffith College Dublin (2001-2007). His principal research has been concerned with the law of torts, personality rights and employment law. He has published in a number of Irish and international peer-reviewed journals in these fields. He has also published a number of student texts in the Law of Torts the latest of which is Tort Law: Cases in Nutshell (Round Hall, Dublin 2019) and has co-authored Employment Law in Ireland (2nsd ed) (Clarus Press, Dublin 2022). Val currently teaches Tort Law and Contract Law on the FE1 Preparatory course and on the Workshop course for the Entrance Examinations to the Honorable Society of King’s Inns

Dr Maura Kelly

BCL, PhD

Dr Maura Kelly has a wide range of experience in the academic and commercial legal environment. She has been involved in many ground breaking projects from establishing the first private law school, Portobello College in 1992 to working with a leading law firm to establish professional development programmes at trainee lawyer to senior associate level. Maura worked with many leading global universities such as the University of Wales; University of West of England; BPP University; University of Cambridge; Judge Business School and INSEAD. Her more recent role focused on designing and delivering quality, customer-focused and commercially-aligned programmes for trainee lawyers through to 6 year qualified senior associates with a top-tier Irish solicitors’ firm.

Maura has been lecturing for over 20 years both in the public and private university sector. Her main areas of expertise are Constitutional and EU law. She holds a PhD in the area of property rights. Maura applies a very practical and exam focused approach in her lectures and loves the challenge of leading students through the FE1 ‘experience.’ Maura currently teaches Constitutional Law and EU law on the FE1 Preparatory course and Constitutional Law on the Workshop course for the Entrance Exams to the  Honorable Society of King’s Inns.

Dr Miriam Delahunt

Barrister-at-Law

Dr Miriam Delahunt BL teaches the Law of Equity & Trusts on the FE1 Prep Course. She is a practising barrister who received her PhD in Trinity College Dublin in 2016. She teaches in the Law School in Trinity College Dublin and in the Honorable Society of King’s Inns in the areas of criminal and civil law. Her book Vulnerable Witnesses and Defendants in Criminal Proceedings was published by Clarus Press in 2024.
